IC INFORMATION
Characters Name: Finland / Timo Väinämöinen
Age: About 1000 years old, appears to be around 20.
Canon: Axis Powers Hetalia
Canon Point: Date of acception/2013
Species: Nation
Gender: Male/Male
Orientation: Unknown. There is very little discussion about sexuality in Hetalia at all, and Finland doesn’t appear to show any interest in any of the other characters above what could be considered friendship. Although Sweden has been confirmed as having some kind of interest in Finland, nothing has been said about Finland’s response to that. While he doesn’t like being called his wife, he also appears to spend a lot of time with him post independence.
For the question of what gender would he feel more comfortable sharing a room with, he’s shared a bed with other men for at least a couple of hundred years, so he’d be more comfortable with that. If he’s placed with a woman (which is fine by me OOC) he’ll probably just get another bedunless he gets to know them well and they want to snuggle if he gets a snugly wife he’ll be happy

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_Finland#Chronology_of_the_Finno-Ugric.2C_Finnic.2C_Indo-European_and_Germanic_languages_in_Finland
Appearance: Finland is a bit on the short side, at 170cm, with round features. He has a cheerful face, which is dominated by his big, purple eyes. His hair is a light blonde, and it’s fairly long, falling to about his ears.

Personality: Outwardly, Finland is always smiling, happy, bubbly and very, very talkative. He likes to keep the atmosphere light by making jokes or keeping up the conversation, but around people that unnerve him like Sweden he talks even more. There isn’t much of a filter between his brain and his mouth, though, so sometimes he comes out with things that might make him seem a little silly, and if he does he’ll light up like a candle, blushing darkly. This makes him pretty easily flustered, especially when he’s anxious or nervous, and he’s fidgety too, although that can also be put down to the amount of coffee that he consumes. He’s generous and sweet, and keeps a large group of friends close to his heart, happiest when the people close to him are happy and well.
However, like all Nations, Finland has endured all kind of hardships in his long history. Of all of the Nordics, he’s said to have had the hardest life. For five hundred years, more or less, he was Sweden’s underling, and for another hundred after that he was Russia’s, so from a modern canon point he’s only been independent for just over a hundred years. It’s also rather telling that Finnish only became a national language equal to Swedish in 1863. So while he is very cheerful, he’s not child-like, and he can be serious if the situation calls for it. He’s mature beyond his apparent age (which isn’t surprising, given that there’s a thousand years between his apparent age and physical one, but he’s noted as mature where other, older, Nations aren’t and that is). All of these hardships have led him to be a hard worker, and he will work without complaint. He’s an excellent housekeeper, having been Sweden’s ‘wife’ for so long. Unfortunately he has a tendency to take tasks a little bit too seriously, such as the costume that he makes for Halloween 2011, where he goes very overboard in making a ghost pirate outfit, skull mask included. He also worries a lot for his friends, putting their well being before his own.
His experiences with war, famine and hardship have left him with a rock solid core. Although he is very affable and can endure a lot, he does have a breaking point, and push him past that and he will bite, and hard. No one expected him to last as long as he did in the Winter War – Russian troops were told to be careful not to accidentally invade Sweden as they swept across the country, but he stood firm. One of the easiest ways to get him to snap is to threaten his friends and somewhat family in the Nordics and Estonia. He’s very loyal, and he values loyalty in other people as well. This leads to him worrying a lot about the people that he cares about.
Of all of his features, though, his most noticeable is his quirkiness. He’s a huge sucker for cute things, like moomins and baby America, but his naming sense is appalling. He was designated designer when the Nordics were given roles (with Sweden as the maker, Denmark as the seller and Norway as the critic) but you’d better hope that one of the other comes up with the names. This is a Nation who tried to name his dog ‘Bloody Floweregg’ after all. He’s also in love with weird festivals, the stranger the better, although he also adores Christmas and works hard to make sure that it’s a good time for all of his family. And never, ever let him cook. While he has all the technical abilities to make something wonderful, he has a habit of straying from the recipe, and adding something downright bizarre. If he offers you Salmiakki, don’t take it. He’s also a little too into his sports, especially if it comes with a chance to kick Sweden’s arse at ice hockey. Don’t sit close to him at a game.
Abilities: Like all Nations, Finland is long-lived and hard to kill. He recovers quickly from physical harm and ages based on his country’s development rather than his physical age.
It’s never explained in detail, but he also has the ability to act as father Christmas. It could be that he has magical powers himself, or it could be that the powers are contained in the sleigh, but since other Hetalia characters do have magical powers it’s likely that Finland has the powers himself. However, he only ever uses them at Christmas so it might be that he’s unable to use them at any other time of the year.
Physically, he’s stronger than he looks, and stronger than a human would be. He’s also a very good shot, specialising with a sniper rifle. Although all Nations must be good with languages, Finland has had to deal with more than most. He has two National languages, Finnish and Swedish, and over the years Russian, French and Latin have also been important languages in his Nation, as well as English more recently.

First Person: [Someone is really too cheerful for the night after a big party. But there’s a row of coffee cups on the sink behind him that might give some sort of hint as to how.]
Good morning! I hope everyone had a fun time last night. I love Halloween! Everyone’s costumes looked amazing and I loved seeing all of them and I wish I took more pictures!
But today is All Saint’s Day and at home it’s a day of remembrance. We’re separated from loved ones here and from their graves, but we can still remember them! I’m still going to light candles.
And that made me think, what other celebrations do people have at home? Are there things you do for All Saint’s Day or Halloween at home? Or Christmas! Advent is only a month away! Aren’t you excited? [Well, Finland clearly is.] I’ve got to start getting ready for it! But I was thinking that since people come from all over the world here – and from different worlds too – there’ll be all kinds of festivals that people know about that we don’t have at home and I want to hear about all of them! I’ll write them down so that other people can look as well if they want! That way if you have new friends from another world you’ll be able to look up the important days for them! ...I just hope everyone uses the same calendar. Or at least one similar enough… [This might be more difficult than he thought.]
Third Person: AU PSL, contains violence and sex.
This thread is probably a better example of Fin normally than the first one.

It’s the fourth or fifth house he’s tried, but it’s hard to keep track. All of the houses here seem to look the same. Finland could be going round in circles for all he knows. And he probably should have made a note of the number of the house that he left, because if he doesn’t find Denmark he has no idea how he’s going to find his way home.
But that wasn’t the first thought he had when he received the call from Denmark about half an hour ago. Finland had been puzzling through the overload of information that had been provided in his new home, trying to work out what on earth was going on when his phone had rung. He’d answered automatically, and had been greeted by a drunken ramble, something about everyone leaving, even him, Ice would probably be next, and something about a resort and some saunas. It was hard to keep track of everything, Finland’s brain already overloaded with information and not entirely sure what was going on as it was. And hard to get a word in edgeways to try and ask what was going on, until Finland realised something. “Denmark? It’s a little early to be drunk, isn’t it?”
And then there had been more rambling about Norway leaving and ignoring Finland’s requests for where he was. And then, quite suddenly, the call had been cut off, leaving Finland worried for just what Denmark had done to himself in his drunken state, especially when he didn’t answer when Finland redialled. Without a second thought for the newness of surroundings he’d set off to find him with only his phone in hand.
“The one who runs the resort? He lives down the road, I think. Try a bit further that way.” Finland brightened to have some sort of recognition, and didn’t think twice about wrapping an arm around the startled house owner’s shoulder in a quick hug. “Thank you!”
Setting off at a jog he carried on down the road, picking a house at random and knocking on the door. This time he got a number and beaming set off. But knocking on Denmark’s door didn’t give him an answer, and nor did redialling again. “Denmark, you idiot, come out or I’m breaking down the door!” Finland shouted in frustration, and was relieved to hear some kind of movement from inside. When Denmark opened the door, Finland didn’t even think twice about the messy state of his friend, throwing himself at him in a tight hug. “Thank goodness I’ve found you.”
